Tito Lucrécio Caro segundo Agostinho da Silva
Abstract
After a brief yet complete historie report of the Portuguese translations of De Natura Rerum (On The Nature Of Things), by Titus Lucretius Carus, this article comments on the erudite and prestigious translation of that work by Agostinho da Silva to which readers had access via two publications. The first one was printed in 1947 in Portugal in the series Antologia: Introdução aos grandes autores (Anthology: Introduction to the great authors); the second one was published in 1962, when the author, after being shortly in Argentina and Uruguay, was already radicated in Brazil.
